The commercial port of Pichilingue is 17 kilometers from La Paz where cargo and passenger ferries are available. You can travel to the ports of Topolobampo (about 5 hours) and Mazatlan (about 18 hours) via the ferry, available Monday through Saturday. The ferries provide all services; you may purchase tickets for the main level, small rooms and suites; in addition, there is a restaurant and bar and all the amenities for a pleasant trip.
From Tijuana, via transpeninsular highway number one, connecting north and south, you travel from the National Park of the Central Desert of Baja California, entering the state of Baja California Sur through the city of Guerrero Negro. From this point on to La Paz, their are 758 kilometers (471 miles) traveling through some of the most popular places in the state, such as San Ignacio, Santa Rosalia, Mulege and Loreto, which are not only beautiful cities but also of great historical importance in the colonization process and evangelization of the peninsula.
From Cabo Airport follow these directions to La Ventana:
drive away from the airport heading east for 1/2 mile to the main highway, then turn NORTH, left at the highway, drive north past Los Barriles, and San Bartolo. As you go through the little town of San Antonio, just past the Pemex station as you start to go uphill in a left curve filled with big palm trees, TURN RIGHT, there may be a sign that says Los Planes, go a little more than one city block and turn left, go to the next corner and turn right, the signs will say Los Planes.
Drive down this dirt road ( the San Antonio freeway ) for about 20 minutes until you come to pavement again.
Go left at the fork in the road end to pavement again, drive past the next Pemex station, turn right at the first paved road past the Pemex station, in another 5 miles you'll be here, we are in between the second and third speed bump right on the beach, look for the bright green building that says BAJ MAHAL & Casa Verde .
Be sure to drive as fast as you can on the freeway, this way it smoothes out all the bumps. It's not as bad as it sounds and it saves you the several hours more it would take if you drive into La Paz to get here.
